Kevin Durant disregards 'Twitter nonsense' following rumored burner account

Kevin Durant Addresses Burner Account Controversy

Kevin Durant seems uninterested in addressing the issues surrounding his alleged burner accounts.

Following the leak of messages on social media that supposedly criticized both current and former teammates, Durant brushed off media inquiries about the situation. “I know these questions have to be asked, but I’m not here to get into Twitter nonsense,” he remarked, adding that his focus is on the season and moving forward.

When asked if he had discussed the controversial messages with his Houston teammates, he replied, “My teammates know what it is. We’ve been locked in all season. We enjoyed the break and had a great practice today. We’re looking forward to the road trip.”

Recently, screenshots from an X account known as @gethigher77, which is rumored to belong to Durant, surfaced. This account has a history of being vocal about its opinions on teammates like Alperen Shengun and Jabari Smith Jr., as well as former players such as James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and Ben Simmons. Interestingly, the account has since gone private.

Whether Durant is genuinely behind this account remains uncertain, but his previous experiences with burner accounts lend some weight to the rumor. Not too long ago, he even hinted at using one, inviting fans to “come find” him on a newly launched platform.

Back in 2020, he openly discussed using a burner account to respond to those criticizing him online. “I still have a burner that I definitely use,” he admitted then.

In fact, earlier in his career with the Warriors, he unintentionally made one of his accounts public, where he appeared to critique his former team, the Thunder. So, it seems this isn’t the first time Durant has navigated the complexities of online persona.
