Durant’s Heated Exchange with Fan During Game

A video has surfaced online showing Kevin Durant in a tense interaction with a fan seated courtside during the game between the Rockets and the Pistons on Friday. It seems Durant got increasingly agitated, eventually expressing his frustration with some choice words aimed at a fan donning a Brooklyn Nets jersey, number 7. This jersey might remind some that Durant played for the Nets before his trade to the Phoenix Suns in 2023.

“Who are you talking to, you fat guy?” Durant reportedly said at the start of the video. “I’m not going to do that! … Watch your mouth,” he added, clearly irked.

Though staff tried to intervene, Durant didn’t shy away from engaging further with the fans, even as play was halted for the referees to review the footage. Interestingly, it appeared that the fan removed Durant’s jersey at some point before the next clip began.

In an instance of bad timing, there was also a moment where Durant was heard encouraging someone to perform a rather crude act while he shot a free throw in the second quarter. Regardless, he led the Rockets with an impressive 32 points, helping the team secure a 111-104 win against the Pistons.

After the game, Durant reflected on the escalating intensity as the season progresses. He noted, “It’s going to get more intense as the season goes on, and teams are gearing up for that push, right before the All-Star break,” indicating that the competitive environment is heating up.

“Usually, teams start making that push. Okay, this is who we want to be. You can feel it every year around this time. Tonight was physical. It’s going to be more physical for us going forward.”

The Rockets are set to return home for an upcoming game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.
