Massachusetts State Police announced Tuesday that a man accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death at a Boston airport and abandoning her body before boarding a flight out of the country was arrested at a Kenyan nightclub.
Kevin Kangete, 41, was arrested by the country’s authorities on Monday, three months after police discovered the dismembered body of Margaret “Maggie” Mbithu left in a garage at Logan Airport. arrested.
Mbithu’s family reported her missing on October 30, two days before authorities made the gruesome discovery in a central car park.
The 31-year-old nurse was found with large cuts to her face and neck, as well as a stab wound to her side, and police said she was showing “obvious signs of death”.
Police said the car was in Kangete’s name and was covered in blood. Police quickly identified Kangete as the suspect, but he had already left for Kenya.
Police have not revealed a motive for the brutal killing, but Mbithu’s family claimed she was planning to end a long relationship.

Massachusetts State Police had been closely monitoring Kangete for several weeks, spokesman David Procopio said, calling the arrest a “joint effort across oceans and continents.”
“We were monitoring his movements until the international coordination of the arrest warrant and arrest plan was completed,” Procopio said. “The next step is the extradition process, but there is no timeline for that yet.”
Kangete will face a hearing in Kenya before being taken to Massachusetts to face murder charges.
