Support for Casey Wasserman Amid Controversy
In the midst of increasing scrutiny regarding his connections with notorious figures like Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, Casey Wasserman, the head of the Los Angeles Olympics, has found support from significant voices in Hollywood. At a recent event hosted by Variety in Los Angeles, prominent attorney Patricia L. Glaser vocally defended Wasserman, encouraging others in the industry to stand by him despite the surrounding controversies.
“We all need to support Casey to make the Los Angeles Olympics a success,” Glaser stated. “I really think he’s an exceptional manager. He knows a lot of people and manages to keep things organized. He truly deserves our backing.”
Glaser’s remarks came shortly after Wasserman, who leads the Los Angeles organizing committee for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, faced renewed attention following the release of documents by the Justice Department related to Epstein. These documents revealed concerning emails between Wasserman and Maxwell from 2003, in which Wasserman expressed longing, saying, “Where are you, I miss you,” and asked, “Can I book that massage now?” Maxwell, who was later convicted for her role in grooming women for Epstein, stated she remembered Epstein during “inappropriate moments.”
Wasserman has firmly rejected any notion of a close relationship with Epstein, asserting, “I have never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.”
He expressed regret about his past correspondence with Maxwell, stating, “I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell, which took place over 20 years ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light.” He also mentioned a trip he took on Epstein’s private jet in 2002 for a humanitarian mission related to the Clinton Foundation, adding that he “very much regrets having been associated with either of them.”
This trip, initially disclosed in a 2003 Vanity Fair article, notably included high-profile passengers like Bill Clinton, Kevin Spacey, Chris Tucker, and billionaire Ron Burkle on Epstein’s Boeing 727.
Despite the controversy, influential members of the industry, like Glaser, remain unfazed. As the head of the litigation department at her law firm, she reinforced her support for Wasserman, suggesting his role is crucial for the success of the much-anticipated 2028 Summer Olympics. During the event, she was honored with the Variety 2026 Power of Law Award, recognizing her as one of the leading business trial lawyers in the country.
