Key trait to look for when drafting second basemen

If you're there Fantasy baseball It's not that in the 2025 draft, he's targeting the second baseman who is eligible for other positions. The boat is missing.

The infield within the middle is absolutely washed away with studs, but the nearby exterior shows that it is more towards shortstop than 2 bases.

Get past names like Mookie Betts, Jose Altuve, Ketel Marte and more, and the quality options pool dries quickly.

You can wait until the end of the draft and land passable people like Zachjerov or look to those who have multi-position eligibility and find quality people with narrow qualifications on 2 bases.

People like Matt McClain of the Reds and Seddanne Rafaela of the Red Sox are key examples of how positional flexibility is a key example of how the roster turns into a winner. This is not just about filling the spots, but about stacking up benefits.

McClain is a stud when he's not on the sidelines. In 2023 he gave us a taste of good things: .290/.357/.507, 16 dingers, 14 swipes in just 89 games.

He is a natural shortstop, but when Ellie de la Cruz arrived, McClain moved to 2 base and played enough games to qualify there this season.

Certainly, I washed it with injuries in 2024, but don't scare it. As he stays on the field, he writes to him 20-20.

The Reds are young, chaotic bunches, and McClain, whose thickness, hits the back of a speedster like De La Cruz. Middle round, guys, that's where you hook him. If the Gods of Injury become lovely, he is a potential league winner.

Then there's Raphaela. This Red Sox Spark Plug is a wild card. I'm here for that. In 2024 he mashed 15 homers, stole 17 bags and hit .253 while bouncing between center field and shortstop.

Second qualification? Check out the platform as the second 10 games of 2024 are eligible in most leagues. Rafaela is a gloves that keeps him in the lineup, freaks for several days, pops into the bat, and keeps him in the lineup.

A drawback?

That .278 OBP screams “Work in progress.” But if he understands the strike zone, we're upside 15-25, easy.

Late round, he's your gamble. Outfield and infield eligibility? That's gold on the roster, baby!

Don't stop there. Detroit's Colt Keith – 2 base and 3 base could be a sleeper in 2024, hitting the path to relevance. Jake Cronenworth?

First and second (sometimes shortstop) with a stable bat. Even Whit Merrifield's old legs still bring second and outfield value. These people are not just players, they are chess works.

The contract is as follows: Versatility wins the title. McClain fills the gaps like your high power studs, Rafaela is your dart throw and swagger, and others are champions. Draft Smart, stack up that flexibility and watch your roster bend the league to your will.
