Kid Cudi to Testify in Diddy’s Trial
Scott Mescudi, better known as Kid Cudi, is set to testify on Thursday in the federal assault conspiracy and sex trafficking trial of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. The two had a short relationship back in 2011 with singer Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura.
Combs, 55, faces serious charges related to sex trafficking and conspiracy to engage in prostitution and assault. He was arrested in September and has pleaded not guilty to all allegations.
This morning, Combs and his attorney discussed the potential details of Mescudi’s testimony, particularly regarding an incident involving a home break-in back in 2011.
Mescudi is expected to talk about how his home was violated and his car was burned around the same time he learned of Ventura’s relationship with Combs.
The judge even made a light-hearted comment about whether Mescudi would mention the thoughts of his dog during the testimony. Prosecutors made it clear that Mescudi would not suggest his dog was “dog mental,” but they emphasized the dog was scared after the robbery.
Combs’ defense team expressed concern that too much testimony regarding the dog’s distress could negatively affect the jury’s perception.
However, the judge has agreed to allow testimony about the dog’s behavior right after the incident.
In related developments, Ventura testified last week about her experiences of physical and emotional abuse she faced from Combs over the course of their more than a decade-long relationship.
During her testimony, Ventura mentioned her brief relationship with Mescudi in December 2011. She stated that she communicated with Mescudi using a burner phone due to concerns over her safety regarding her past with Combs.
“I thought it was too dangerous to tell him about it,” she explained to the judge last week.
Combs discovered the relationship towards the end of 2011, which led to a confrontation where he allegedly threatened Ventura out of jealousy, even hinting that he could cause harm to both her and Mescudi. Ventura cited safety issues as the reason for ending her relationship with Mescudi.
“There’s too much danger and uncertainty about what could happen if we keep seeing each other,” she stated.
In a subsequent meeting, both Combs and Mescudi were present, and during the discussions, Mescudi reportedly asked Combs about his car, to which Combs replied in a seemingly dismissive manner.
The threats against Mescudi’s car first came to light in Ventura’s lawsuit against Combs, where she claimed that he had threatened to blow it up after learning about the relationship.
Mescudi’s spokesperson confirmed parts of Ventura’s account, stating that his car had exploded, as detailed previously by several reports.
A report from the Los Angeles Fire Department indicated that Mescudi’s Porsche was intentionally burned in January 2012.
Further investigations by federal prosecutors revealed that Combs allegedly had a history of inciting violence, with claims from associates indicating he boasted about setting another vehicle on fire.
Combs has denied any involvement in the incident regarding Mescudi’s car fire.
For those affected by issues of sexual abuse, support is available through various organizations across the globe.
