Kidnapped girl, 6, rescued in Kansas after trooper makes traffic stop

The Kansas Highwaytrooper rescued a 6-year-old girl who has been missing for more than a month since being lured, and took two men whom she was in custody, authorities said Saturday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol troopers have found that frontline passengers have a warrant for arrest from another state for pulling an SUV for a traffic violation and luring the six-year-old girl just a month ago, the agency said.

The trooper found a girl that age inside the car along with a man and a driver from the 60s, the Highway Patrol said. It was also discovered that the driver has a criminal history, including murder and numerous weapons violations.

The troopers, with the help of a local sheriff's aide, secured both men before taking the girl out of the car safely, the Highway Patrol said.

“The six-year-old girl gave her a false name and date of birth after being coached in an attempt to keep an adult out of prison,” the agency said. “In the end, our troopers calmed the girl down and let her know her true name.”
