Kiefer Sutherland Arrested After Altercation with Rideshare Driver
Kiefer Sutherland found himself in trouble recently, getting arrested due to a dispute with a rideshare driver. The incident occurred early on January 12, and the 59-year-old actor was released the same day after posting a $50,000 bail, as per public records.
A court appearance is on the horizon for Sutherland; he’ll face the Los Angeles Superior Court on February 2 regarding this matter. According to the LAPD, they responded to reports of an assault involving a rideshare driver around 12:15 a.m. near Sunset and Fairfax avenues.
Investigators indicated that Sutherland entered the rideshare vehicle, allegedly assaulted the driver and made threats. Officers arrested him on suspicion of criminal intimidation. Fortunately, the driver did not sustain any injuries that required medical attention, but the investigation is ongoing.
Attempts to get comments from Sutherland’s representatives have been made. This isn’t exactly Sutherland’s first brush with the law; a notable incident back in May 2009 involved him being charged with third-degree assault after headbutting designer Jack McCollough following the Met Gala. That charge was later dropped when they both stated they resolved their issues. Sutherland expressed regret for his actions back then, saying he felt sorry for the injury caused.
In a response to Sutherland’s apology, McCollough expressed appreciation and wished him well. That’s kind of a big shift in tone from the situation surrounding his recent arrest—makes you wonder about the ups and downs of celebrity life, doesn’t it?
