‘Killer known as Casanova to be executed in Florida 30 years after the series of murders’

The man known as the “Casanova Killer” is set to face execution this Thursday, following Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s signing of his death warrant nearly three decades after his crimes.

Glenn Rogers, 62, claims he’s a serial killer responsible for the deaths of 70 women. He will be executed via lethal injection. Rogers earned the nickname “Casanova Killer” due to his method of meeting women at bars and persuading them to drive him home before attacking them.

Here’s a brief rundown of Rogers’ criminal timeline:

Convicted in the 1994 murder of Tina Marie Cribbs

After being found guilty of first-degree murder, armed robbery, and grand theft of a vehicle in regard to the death of 34-year-old Tina Marie Cribbs, he received his death sentence in 1997.

Attempts to overturn his conviction have been unsuccessful on three occasions. Prosecutors assert that Rogers met Cribbs at a bar in Tampa, eventually convincing her to drive him home. She told a friend she would return shortly, but that never happened.

As a mother of two, Cribbs failed to meet her mother that night and didn’t show up for work the following morning. Her lifeless body was discovered several days later in a motel room rented by Rogers.

It was noted that she was found with her back against the tub, dressed in a damp t-shirt, underwear, and socks. The scene revealed bloody towels and a pile of wet clothing. Authorities indicated that she had been stabbed, and there were signs of defensive wounds.

Additionally, jewelry and personal items belonging to Cribbs were missing, along with her car, which police found after Rogers was arrested in Kentucky a week later.

Another death sentence in 1999 for Sandra Gallagher’s murder

In 1999, Rogers was sentenced to death again for killing Sandra Gallagher in California. He had met her at a bar in Van Nuys in September 1995, and soon after, her body was discovered in a truck near his apartment, severely burned.

Claims of multiple victims, including high-profile cases

While in custody, Rogers claimed he had killed 70 women. In a twist, his brother later asserted that Rogers had also confessed to the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, a claim dismissed by the Los Angeles Police Department, which maintains that another is responsible for those deaths.

Death warrant signed following failed appeals

Governor DeSantis signed the death warrant on April 16 after Rogers failed in three previous appeals in Florida. He is additionally suspected of murders across multiple states, having allegedly killed at least five people in Florida, California, Ohio, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

Rogers’ attorneys have argued that he experienced childhood abuse, claiming that these memories were buried until his time in prison.

Rogers is expected to be executed this Thursday at the Florida State Prison near Stark.
