Killer Mike speaks out after Grammys arrest: ‘Overzealous security’

Rapper Killer Mike spoke out hours after he was arrested at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, blaming security at the event and shifting focus to his accomplishments.

On Sunday, FOX News Digital confirmed that the rapper, whose real name is Michael Render, was arrested for an alleged altercation with another person after accepting three awards during the pre-show.

“Man, no one talks about that mess. I walked away with three Grammys. I took some beautiful pictures, man. I got the job done and had a great time,” he said. He told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Monday’s hustle and bustle.

“It swept the entire category yesterday. That’s what I have to say about it,” he told the outlet.

The Atlanta native was charged with a misdemeanor and released the same evening. Videos on social media showed the musician being led out of the Crypto.Com Arena in handcuffs after the Grammy Awards premiere ceremony, which aired before the main TV broadcast.

While in custody, the rapper sent a text message to media outlets in Atlanta, blaming “excessive enthusiasm.” [sic] According to TMZ, Render reportedly ran over a security guard because he didn’t leave fast enough.

“The thing that stands out to me the most has nothing to do with last night,” he told the AJC. “I woke up to a phone call telling me that his son, who had been waiting for a kidney for the past two-and-a-half years, was on his way to the hospital to undergo surgery to receive a kidney.”

Render and his wife, Shana, have four children. She was on stage with the rapper when he won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Song. It also won the Best Rap Performance Award and the Best Rap Album Award.

On Sunday night, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed they had “detained and handcuffed” “Render” during an alleged physical altercation in the 700 block of Chick Hearn Court. The suspect was arrested and transported to Los Angeles Police Department Central. ”

According to inmate records, Render was arrested on a misdemeanor charge at 7:30 p.m. and released on his own recognizance by 8:37 p.m.

He is scheduled to return to Los Angeles Superior Court on February 29.

Render’s victory was not broadcast during the main show, and was instead announced before the official program began.

“All we can do as fans is encourage the Academy to televise it. I think it’s a valuable encouragement, and I think the more excited we get about hip-hop, the more excited we get. ” [the Academy] “It will happen,” he said of the station’s decision not to air the category. “We should celebrate this more in every way we can. Whether it’s the Grammys or the BET Hip Hop Awards, Urban One Honors showcases that. 50 years ago for a bunch of poor kids in the South Bronx. Whenever we have to celebrate the culture built by, we should celebrate.”
