Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s wife claims abuse in court recordings acquired by USA Today

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an MS-13 member who was deported, is now facing fresh allegations of abuse following a voice recording from his wife, Jennifer Vasquez Sura, that reportedly sought a temporary protection order from a judge.

In court documents reviewed from August 2020, Sura recounted the alleged abuse, detailing several instances where Abrego Garcia supposedly pushed her, yanked her hair, and even slapped her. “On Wednesday, he hit me. He just woke up and hit me, like 3 a.m.,” Sura said during the court testimony.

Sura described another incident where she tried to escape Abrego Garcia, calling for help as she saw a neighbor walking a dog. She alleged that he grabbed her hair and slapped her during the encounter. Many neighbors expressed their confusion and concern, admitting they weren’t sure how to intervene.

In the audio, Sura mentions that she contemplated seeking an order of protection back in December 2019. However, she claims Abrego Garcia’s family dissuaded her, saying he was unwell. A filing shared with Fox News Digital revealed that Sura expressed fear of approaching him, alongside handwritten allegations from her.

Abrego Garcia has become a focal point in discussions about illegal immigration, often referred to as the “Maryland Man.” He is believed to be an undocumented Salvadoran national and tied to the dangerous MS-13 gang.

Apart from the abuse claims, he is also facing scrutiny over potential involvement in human trafficking. Bodycam footage from a traffic stop with Tennessee Highway Patrol revealed he had been driving for three days, transporting eight passengers from Texas to Maryland, which raised suspicions.

Recently, Senator Chris Van Hollen from Maryland visited El Salvador to meet with Abrego Garcia amid growing criticisms from both parties, especially as new allegations surfaced.

Patty Morin, mother of the murdered Maryland woman Rachel Morin, condemned Van Hollen’s trip, stating he had not contacted her since Rachel’s death, which was linked to an illegal immigrant convicted of her murder.

The Trump administration had pointed to significant evidence of Abrego Garcia’s gang ties, but the Supreme Court ruled in April for his return after a lower court decision.
