Kim Kardashian labeled as ‘brilliant’ for donning kimono on ‘All’s Fair’ years after criticism of Skims brand name

Kim Kardashian has embraced the name “Kimono” without facing accusations of cultural appropriation this time.

Throughout the inaugural season of Hulu’s “All’s Fair,” she has been sharing wardrobe glimpses and designer insights on TikTok and Instagram.

On Sunday night, she posted a photo slideshow on Instagram showcasing a delicate pink silk kimono accented with rich chocolate brown.

Her outfit was complemented by a wide sash, known as an obi in Japan, adorned with rhinestones and the initials of her character from “All’s Fair,” lawyer Alura Grant, represented as “AG.”

Kardashian paired her kimono with elegant brown satin Giuseppe Zanotti heels and added flair with a striking diamond necklace and earrings.

The collection of images included not just solo shots but also glimpses of her glam team and a few snaps with Ryan Murphy, the show’s creator and executive producer.

Moreover, she shared several images of her custom kimono, featuring “KIMono by Milligan” hand-embroidered on the interior.

The designs were crafted by multi-disciplinary artists and stylists, including Milligan Beaumont.

Before Skims gained its current fame, Kardashian had initially planned to name her shapewear line “Kimono.” It was a clever twist on her name and the traditional Japanese robe.

However, after a wave of online backlash regarding cultural appropriation, that name was quickly dropped in favor of Skims.

Now, Skims stands as a multi-billion dollar global enterprise.

Her followers didn’t hold back in their reactions, posting comments like, “This time it’s appropriate,” and “I can’t believe Skims almost got called kimono. But I think it’s clever…Genius.”

One has to wonder how Alura Grant feels about it all.
