LONDON (AP) – King Charles III has taken decisive action regarding Prince Andrew

On Thursday, King Charles III officially removed Prince Andrew from the royal titles he held and decided to evict him from his royal residence. This decision followed an ongoing push for accountability related to Andrew’s past association with the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Buckingham Palace announced that formal proceedings are underway to revoke Prince Andrew’s titles, style, and honor.

Henceforth, he will be referred to as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and will be relocating from Royal Lodge to private accommodation.

Calls for Andrew’s ousting from the Royal Lodge gained traction earlier this month, particularly after he forfeited the Duke of York title amidst fresh allegations concerning his connection to Epstein and assertions from one of Epstein’s victims, Virginia Roberts Giuffre.

While the king’s initial steps included stripping Andrew of his Duke of York title, he opted to go further by also removing his prince title, which he had held since birth as the son of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The palace stated, “These measures are necessary, even as he maintains his denial of the allegations. The Majesties want to express their enduring support and sympathy for all victims of abuse.”

Additional public backlash against Andrew surfaced earlier this month, fueled by emails that revealed a longer-than-previously disclosed communication history with Epstein.

Following this, Giuffre’s posthumous memoir, titled “Nobody’s Girl,” was released, detailing alleged sexual encounters with Andrew, where she claimed he behaved as if it were his “birthright.”

At 65 years old, Andrew has consistently denied Giuffre’s allegations, but he stepped back from royal duties after a disastrous interview with the BBC in November 2019, where he attempted to defend himself against her accusations.

In 2022, Andrew reached a multi-million dollar out-of-court settlement after Giuffre filed a civil lawsuit in New York. Although he denied any wrongdoing, he did acknowledge Giuffre’s suffering as a sex trafficking victim.

Giuffre tragically passed away by suicide in April at the age of 41.

As part of this transition, Andrew will relocate to the King’s estate at Sandringham, which is located near the northeast coast, and he will receive ongoing financial support from his brother. Meanwhile, his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, who lived in their shared large mansion, will now have to find new accommodation.
