King Charles marked two years since the death of his beloved mother, Queen Elizabeth II, with an emotional service at Balmoral.
Queen Elizabeth, 75, arrived with her wife Camilla on Sunday at Crathie Church, a small church on the late Queen's beloved Balmoral Estate.
The two attended a memorial service in memory of the king's late mother, who passed away on September 8, 2022, at the age of 96.
The day is doubly symbolic for Prince Charles as it also marks his second anniversary on the throne.
A small group of Royalists gathered outside the church to catch a glimpse of the King and Queen's arrival.
The couple, who married in 2005, arrived to the congregation sitting in the back of a maroon Bentley.
For the occasion, Charles opted for a charcoal grey jacket with a pink floral collar.
Meanwhile, Camilla wore a green jacket with a red and green tartan collar and completed her look with a green feathered hat.
The ceremony was conducted by the Reverend Kenneth MacKenzie, who served as chaplain to the late Queen Elizabeth II in her final years.
Archbishop Shaw Paterson, special preacher at the ceremony, described the anniversary as “particularly significant and moving for the Royal Family”.
Speaking after the service, Prince Charles said he was “very well known and well liked” in the community around Balmoral and that, like the late Her Majesty the Queen, “was an important part of the local community”.
“It was an honour to preach to the congregation of Crathy Church, which included King Charles III and members of the Royal Family,” he said at the service.
