King Charles III Heckled on Visit to Essex
During a recent visit to Essex, King Charles III faced heckling regarding his brother, Prince Andrew’s, connections to Jeffrey Epstein. This occurred while he interacted with local residents, showing his support for the community, as noted by local media.
The heckling happened shortly before various leaflets featuring an image of Andrew were temporarily distributed in the village of Dedham. A report mentioned that the image was similar to one released by the Ministry of Justice, displaying the former Duke of York in a compromising position.
Prince Andrew has been under intense scrutiny for his ties to the convicted sex offender Epstein, who died in a New York jail in 2019. Footage showed King Charles greeting residents, during which one man shouted a question, inquiring whether he urged police to investigate his brother.
The question was direct: “Did you pressure the police to investigate Andrew?” While the king continued to engage with the crowd, he apparently didn’t respond. This heckler was later identified as Richard Gadd, 73.
As the visit progressed, it was reported that two police officers escorted Gadd away, with him expressing remorse for suggesting that “these people” deserved justice. He emphasized that while the royal visit was intended to be cheerful, he felt compelled to make this point clear to the public, insisting that Andrew should not have immunity from investigation.
Gadd expressed his belief that Andrew ought to be thoroughly investigated, insisting that no one should be above the law. A female reporter at the rear of the crowd also shouted questions about Andrew, asking the king if he would assist with ongoing investigations, which resulted in loud reactions from onlookers.
In the night leading up to the royal visit, scraps of paper bearing black-and-white photos of Andrew were found on the ground, accompanied by phrases like “The Royal Family Should Not Be Above the Law.” Local residents and officials later took measures to remove these before the king and queen arrived, even cleaning up debris left by recent rain.
