King Charles reaches out to Biden following prostate cancer diagnosis

King Charles III Reaches Out to Biden Following Cancer Diagnosis

King Charles III reached out to former President Biden after news broke of his diagnosis with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer, as confirmed by Buckingham Palace on Monday.

Biden’s office announced on Sunday that the former president had been experiencing increased urinary symptoms, which led to the discovery of new prostate nodules.

On Friday, doctors disclosed that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, which has a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) and has metastasized to the bone. This indicates a more aggressive disease, although the cancer seems to respond well to hormone treatments, allowing for manageable care.

This diagnosis raised concerns about whether earlier signs might have been overlooked, especially since Biden, now 82, has been active in public after stepping out of office earlier this year.

King Charles, who is 76, has also been undergoing treatment for an unspecified type of cancer since early 2024. Although he took a break from official duties for around three months following his diagnosis, he has continued to manage state responsibilities, such as reviewing government documents and meeting with the Prime Minister.

In March, King Charles was hospitalized due to “temporary side effects” from his ongoing cancer treatments, prompting Buckingham Palace to announce that one of his engagements had to be postponed.
