Kings emerge as Pascal Siakham suitor for Raptors in latest NBA trade rumor

The Sacramento Kings are toronto raptors Forward Pascal Siakam, according to the latest report from NBA insider Shams Charania. The Raptors recently acquired OG Anunoby. new york knicksand could be looking to move another key part of their core in Siakam, a two-time All-Star in the final year of his contract.

Siakam turns 30 in April. He has struggled to shoot from the outside (28.8% from 3-point range on 3.7 attempts per game), and his production has slumped a bit, with younger teammate Scottie Barnes in Toronto. Activity is increasing. He was also named an All-Star last season and was of course a key part of the Raptors' 2019 NBA championship team. Siakam, a 230-pound forward with a 6-foot-8 height and 7-foot-3 wingspan, has long had a reputation as a strong defender, but his defensive metrics have declined a bit this season.

Here is the report from Charania:

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the Kings were making Harrison Barnes, Kevin Huerter and Davion Mitchell available in a trade. According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports. These three players for Siakam function as trade salaries. The Kings also own all future first-round picks beyond 2024.

Siakam's next contract will likely be the biggest piece of the pie. What would it take to re-sign him? Is he still worth a near-max contract as he ages if he can't improve his jump shot?

In Sacramento, Siakam will form a “big three” with De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis. The Kings are currently 20-13 overall, ranked 13th in offense and 16th in defense. If the season ended today, they would be the No. 5 seed in the West.

This agreement could make sense for both sides. How many first-round picks will Sacramento have to commit? What protections will they have? There's a trade path here, but the NBA on February 8th It must be completed by the trade deadline.
