Kinzinger says he’d vote for Biden instead of Trump ‘in a heartbeat’

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) said he would vote for President Biden over former President Trump “in a heartbeat.”

Kinzinger, an outspoken critic of Trump, was asked by CNN's Kaitlan Collins who he plans to support now that the favorite Republican candidate, Chris Christie, has withdrawn from the race.

He said he believed it was “very likely” that a rematch between Biden and Trump would take place in 2020, and that in that case, there was “no question” he would support Biden.

“That's not even a question I have to address,” he said in his opening remarks. Highlighted by Mediaite.

“It's literally a decision between, 'Do you believe in a functioning democracy?'” Or do you not? ' said Kinzinger. “And I think that’s the only thing that’s on the ballot.”

Kinzinger, who served on the Jan. 6 committee before leaving office, said President Trump has made it clear he doesn't care about the U.S. Constitution. He claimed the former president “whins incessantly” and is “constantly” the victim.

The former congressman said America is exhausted and “cannot survive another four years.” He doesn't agree with Biden on everything, but if it's Trump vs. Biden on the November ballot, he'll get Kinzinger's vote because “he doesn't hate democracy.” right.

“I believe in America much more than I believe in the Republican Party. I don't have much faith in the Republican Party at this point.”

Still, Kinzinger said she has no intention of actively campaigning for the Democratic Party and is hopeful that fellow Republican candidate Nikki Haley will outperform the former president in New Hampshire. Ta.

“I hope Nicky wins New Hampshire. I hope it leads to some momentum in defeating Donald Trump,” he said.

Haley is closing in on Trump's lead in New Hampshire, according to poll numbers compiled by Decision Desk and The Hill. Currently, the former president's approval rating is 42%, and Haley's approval rating is 30.9%, with Christie's withdrawal from the race likely to change the poll numbers within days.
