“This whole report that Iran has been giving us a message of what they’re going to do is ridiculous,” Kirby said.

Kirby told reporters that Iran had launched hundreds of missiles and drones in retaliation for attacks on Iranian property in Syria, and an unsuccessful attempt to attack Israel on Saturday. .

He said Israel and its allies were able to intercept most of the missiles, and Kirby also claimed that the United States was not informed in advance of the schedule or targets involved.

However, according to Reuters, Iran told diplomats from Turkey, Jordan, and Iraq to provide widespread notification several days before the attack began. All three countries are allies of the United States

“All I’m saying is that it’s nonsense,” he repeated. “Can you imagine a world where Iran picks up the phone and says, ‘We’re going to crush Israel with 300 cruise missiles and drones. We just wanted to let you know it’s coming, and oh , now what we’re going to do is… Sorry, that didn’t happen. I can’t tell you what sources are telling you what they heard. . We will tell you what we heard.”

Without going into details, Kirby acknowledged that the United States had received messages from Iran and that Iran had received messages from the United States, but was adamant that none of these messages were related to the details of last weekend’s attack on Iran. emphasized.

“Together with our partners, we defeated that attack!” Biden said Monday in a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.
