Karine Jean-Pierre Faces Criticism Over Book Tour
Karine Jean-Pierre, the former White House press secretary during the Biden administration, is under fire once again, this time for her recent book tour.
She kicked off her promotional tour in October for her book, titled “Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines.” During this time, she’s been the subject of mockery, particularly from left-leaning critics, for her frequent emphasis on identity politics.
“Please, just let me finish my book tour!” was a plea from one critic as the ridicule around her escalated.
On October 29, during a segment of “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” both Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur and Katie Miller—who previously served as deputy press secretary and is married to Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller—found common ground in their critiques of Jean-Pierre, particularly regarding her self-identification as a Black LGBT woman.
“Honestly, I don’t care about her skin color or her sexuality, but it seems like she really does,” Morgan remarked after showcasing clips from her book tour interviews. “When discussions arise around DEI and how she navigated her book promotion, the focus shifts entirely to identity politics.”
Miller echoed this sentiment, suggesting that Jean-Pierre lacked qualifications for her previous role as press secretary.
“I’m really appalled. And it’s tough for me to say this, but I somewhat agree with Katie,” Uygur stated, noting that he finds her fixation on identity politics tiresome.
On a related note, Jean-Pierre confronted Miller during his podcast earlier this week, where she was asked about her identification as a “Black queer woman.” She expressed frustration at criticisms regarding her identity.
“Honestly, any time I mention being a Black, queer woman, I face backlash. It feels like that makes me more vulnerable to criticism,” she said. “It’s frustrating when people who haven’t lived my experiences try to dictate how I identify.”
In a different instance, political commentator James Carville poked fun at her for sidestepping a question in an interview with The New Yorker, attributing it to her identity as a “Black lesbian woman.” He bluntly declared, “Lady, get through your book tour and then just be quiet!”
Additionally, former Biden press secretary Andrew Bates voiced his disagreement with Jean-Pierre during a recent interview, particularly about her shift to identifying as an independent while implicitly criticizing the Democratic Party.
