The Knicks haven’t made any official announcements about Miles McBride’s surgery, but his recovery timeline has been revealed.
McBride had sports hernia surgery on Friday, as confirmed by sources. League officials have indicated that his expected recovery time is between six to eight weeks.
This estimate is a bit quicker than what two experts consulted by the Post indicated; they suggested that recovery from this sort of surgery usually takes around 10 to 12 weeks.
If all goes well, McBride could potentially be back in action before the regular season wraps up.
Meanwhile, the Knicks faced another setback, losing to the Pacers 137-134 in overtime on Tuesday night, marking their third consecutive loss.
Interestingly, they updated the injury status of another player from a sore toe to a toenail avulsion, which sounds quite painful. In his absence, Landry Shamet stepped up, managing to score 17 points.
Mitchell Robinson was also out, making this game the first in a back-to-back series.
In the loss, Josh Hart achieved a notable feat, recording a triple-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. This marks his 17th triple-double with the Knicks, surpassing Richie Guerin’s 16 for third place on the franchise’s all-time list.
Looking ahead, Jayson Tatum’s potential return could significantly affect the Knicks during the playoffs. It was hard to picture him playing for the Celtics this season after tearing his Achilles tendon in the playoffs against the Knicks last year. Yet, he practiced with the Celtics’ G League team on Tuesday, showing promising progress in his recovery.
Tatum mentioned, “That doesn’t mean I’m coming back or not coming back, just following the plan.”
Lastly, Knicks play-by-play announcer Mike Breen made his return to calling games after more than three weeks away on assignment with ESPN.
