Knicks stars Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart are still in the mood to celebrate their team’s championship win.
In a recent chat, Matt Hillman, who is a close friend and business partner of Hart, shared insights about their lives since June 13, the date the Knicks clinched the NBA title with a tight 94-90 win against the Spurs in Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals.
“It’s been this crazy mix of personal time and work,” Hillman remarked, noting that he co-hosts the podcast “The Roommates Show” with Hart and Brunson.
Once the final whistle blew at San Antonio’s Frostbank Center, a whirlwind of TV appearances, brand deals, and fresh opportunities kicked in, and they managed to keep their plans under wraps.
The latest edition of the live podcast experience, titled “Roommates have a block party” presented by DoorDash, will shift from Central Park to Randall’s Island Park on September 26. This change comes as ticket demand surged following the Knicks’ first championship in 53 years.
More than 4,000 tickets for this year’s event sold out within 90 seconds, leaving nearly 8,000 fans on the waiting list, potentially setting the stage for the largest live podcast event ever.
Special guests will include Jose Alvarado, Mariska Hargitay, Jimmy Fallon, Spike Lee, Landry Shamet, among others, with performances by Fabolous, Jim Jones, Maino, and Dave East.
“I think it’s a great chance to celebrate with the fans, who really supported us,” Brunson said. “They showed up for us, so we’re thrilled to give back to them in a fun way.”
Meanwhile, “The Roommates Show” is gearing up for its fourth season, which is set to launch in February 2024, two and a half years after the podcast first started.
“We just sort of decided to start it,” Hart recalled. “Let’s just see what happens with it.”
“And here we are, two and a half years and three seasons in—it’s grown more than we thought it would. But honestly, it’s been a really fun process… though it’s not always easy. Recording episodes can have its ups and downs,” he added.
During the live show, Hart mentioned he would touch on Mitchell Robinson’s recent signing with the Celtics, which came after he spent his first eight seasons as a Knick, among other significant moves in the Eastern Conference.
Tickets for “The Roommates Show Block Party Presented by DoorDash” will go on sale Friday, August 21, at noon ET.
For Hart, it’s about managing new ventures off the court while also carving out family time and still enjoying the aftermath of their championship.
“Ultimately, it’s [about the championship]. The team dynamic will never be the same again—people are coming and going all the time,” Hart said. “We had many moments to celebrate together, so I’ll keep some details private for now,” he shared.
After the ticker-tape parade on June 18, the Knicks celebrated with celebrities at a private club, and quite a few snapshots surfaced online.
Hillman, who spent much of the summer alongside Hart, described the experience as somewhat overwhelming.
“One thing that caught me off guard was how little we hear about what follows a victory. You might assume it’s all fun and festivities,” Hillman noted.
“Honestly, I think it wasn’t until a few weeks later that they actually began to enjoy it… that was when they got to Europe in July. Even when they got back to New York, they were immediately busy with Fanatics Fest and the World Cup.”
“From the moment the buzzer sounds, it’s a blur of media coverage and then you’re celebrating with your teammates late—only to be on ‘Good Morning America’ at 6 a.m. and ‘Today’ right after,” he said.
“It was like they were running full speed for two weeks, and I was right there with him. It was just nonstop—brand deals, parades, fitting everything into their schedule. It was a lot.”
Hart and Hillman go way back; they’ve been best friends since high school. Hart even stayed with the Hillman family for two years before heading to Villanova.
In July, Hart and his wife Shannon, alongside Hillman and his wife Samara, took a vacation to France where they enjoyed wine tasting in Bordeaux.
Hart mentioned that he and Shannon also soaked up some relaxation time in Capri and Rome before returning to the States for a wedding earlier this month.
“I just got back from some nuptials and everyone was really happy—the ceremony and reception had a great vibe,” Hart remarked.
Looking ahead, Hart can’t wait to spend some downtime with Shannon and their 3-year-old twins, Hendrix and Hayes, before starting his 10th NBA season.
“We’re heading out east now,” he shared about their summer plans in the Hamptons. “I’ve got a couple of brand commitments lined up, but August is really my time to relax and work out,” he noted.
It’s not just Hart securing brand deals; Shannon, with her 95,000 Instagram followers, has recently partnered with Digital Brand Architects for representation.
In 2026, she collaborated with various brands like Vita Coco, Maybelline, and AT&T.
This all seems to be building up to her next significant project, which Hart hinted would be coming soon.
