Knicks fans at the watch party experience disappointment after Game 5.

Fans gathered in the garden, eager for a celebration that hadn’t transpired since 2000.

The Knicks supporters, at a watch party, chanted “Knicks in 5” as the halftime score remained tied. However, once Game 5 concluded, the streets echoed “Knicks in 6,” reflecting the renewed spirit of New York City.

With a chance to eliminate the Celtics and reach the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 25 years, the Knicks faced Boston, who were missing their star player, Jason Tatum, due to an Achilles injury. But after a disappointing 127-102 defeat, things didn’t feel close at all by the end. The Knicks inadvertently reignited some hope in the defending champions, leaving fans wondering about the potential dangers ahead.

During the first half, the watch party atmosphere transformed various sections, as TNT engaged viewers with in-game contests and court performances showcased on the Jumbotron. Cheers erupted every time Mitchell Robinson missed free throws, while fans groaned when Josh Hart was bloodied by an elbow from Luke Cornett. The mood shifted yet again to cheers when Hart switched jerseys and bravely continued in the game, successfully sinking a free throw.
