Josh Hart wasn’t buying it.
The Knicks star posted a series of photos on Instagram of himself hosting ESPN’s NBA Finals coverage.
“Why don’t you come to the Nets?” Nets star Mikal Bridges, who was Hart’s teammate at Villanova University, said.
Hart then mocked Bridges.
“@mikalbridges are you OK?” Hart responded. “If you’re being held hostage just blink and we’ll help you.”
Bridges is in the final season of his contract with the Nets, but there have been numerous rumors circulating that he could join the Knicks either via trade later this year or as a free agent next year.
He was a college teammate of the Knicks’ Villanova trio of Hart, Jalen Brunson and Donte DiVincenzo, and the four remain close friends.
Bridges said last year that he wanted the Knicks to draft him in 2018, but the Knicks ended up selecting Kevin Knox with the eighth pick.
The Nets acquired him from the Suns last year for Kevin Durant, and he is averaging 19.6 points this year on 43.6 percent shooting from the field and 37.2 percent from 3-point range.
However, the Nets had a very disappointing season, finishing with a 32-50 record and missing the playoffs.
Meanwhile, the Knicks earned the second seed in the Eastern Conference and advanced to the second round of the playoffs, only to be eliminated by the Pacers in seven games.
“It’s been really tough for me personally,” Bridges said after the season ended. “I’ve got a few gray hairs. I’ve got a desire to win, I’ve got a desire to compete and I’ve been frustrated with a lot of things. I’ve been frustrated with myself. Sometimes you just have to go through it. You have expectations and goals and you don’t achieve them. Life has weird ways of humbling you, but it’s always for a greater cause.”
