MINNEAPOLIS — Carmelo Anthony is one step closer to being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
The former Knick was one of the first candidates in the 2025 Naismith class announced Thursday, joining other familiar faces Amare Stoudemire, Dwight Howard and Marc Gasol.
Anthony, a Brooklyn native, is one of the leading NBA players in his class, ranking 10th on the all-time scoring list with over 28,000 points and 10 All-Star appearances.
Despite only being in New York for six and a half seasons, Anthony is the sixth-leading scorer in Knicks history.
He's probably the best Knick since Patrick Ewing, at least until the end of Jalen Brunson's career, but this franchise has never made it past the second round of the playoffs.

Anthony's other great season was with Denver, where he was drafted third overall in 2003.
According to Front Office Sports, Anthony is pursuing a career as a television analyst as the NBA's new media deal goes into effect next season, with NBC and Amazon merging into domestic game coverage.
Women's basketball legends and former Queen's Christ the King stars Sue Bird and Maya Moore were also nominated.
