Knicks player shines in victory following shoutout from Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway Celebrates New York Knicks Victory

Anne Hathaway was in high spirits during a game on Thursday night, proudly representing her New York Knicks fandom. Just a day prior, she appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, discussing her love for the team and even contemplating wearing an OG Anunoby jersey for the occasion.

“I really wanted to show up in an OG jersey, you know?” she remarked during the show.

In a compelling performance, Anunoby seemed to thrive on the support from the Emmy Award winner, contributing significantly to the Knicks’ impressive 140-89 win over the Atlanta Hawks. He recorded 29 points, seven rebounds, and four steals—all in just 27 minutes of play, which is quite remarkable.

During her appearance in a blue and orange handkerchief, Hathaway described herself as a “mother-like” fan. “When I’m at a game, I want the players to feel my support. I’m not one to shout negative things—more like encouraging them, honestly,” she shared.

Interestingly, Hathaway also reassured the players after a missed shot, saying, “If you miss a basket, it’s not entirely your fault. I saw that backboard move.”

The Knicks set several records with this win. Leading by an astonishing 40-15 after the first quarter, they achieved the largest cumulative lead for the shot clock era by halftime, reaching 47 points. This victory marked not only the Knicks’ biggest playoff win but also tied for the sixth-largest margin in NBA postseason history.

Moving forward, the Knicks are set to face the winner of the ongoing series between the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers. Fans can likely expect to see Hathaway cheering from the stands in the second round at Madison Square Garden.
