LOS ANGELES – On Thursday night, a rather rather post-game press conference asked Tom Thibodeau to be robbed.
“Do you think you'll be down the home stretch and pulling some away and letting some rest?” the reporter asked after the Knicks were slammed overtime by the Lakers. “Is it because you almost solidified two or three species at the Eastern Conference?”
Thibodeau took the high path – “There's still a long way to go, so you just had to keep playing” – but at this point the idea that the Knicks locked up the seeds was so ridiculous, you would have understood even if Thibodeau whipped the Mathematics 101 textbook accordingly.
The Knicks are not in a comfortable position there despite residing as East's third seed for almost every season. There is little hope of catching the Celtics.
