Knicks trade Jericho Sims to Bucks on eve of NBA trade deadline

The Knicks made the expected move Wednesday with Jericho Sims down on a small contract, sending a backup center to the Milwaukee Bucks for veteran guard Deron Wright.

Knicks, as the post originally reported, had been shopping for over a month, but after being dropped from Tom Thibodeau's rotation, promoted a contract for the 26-year-old new location.

Wright, 32, has played 26 games for the Bucks this season.

He is a veterinarian for 10th year and is in the 10th team.

Sources say the Knicks plan to keep the lights for now.

He has a guaranteed deal with his defense specialization as a 6-foot-5 combo guard.

He also played for both OG Anunoby in Toronto and Jalen Brunson in Dallas.

Still, Wright struggled with his shots this season, hitting just 27% of his shots off the field.

He was able to compete for a spinning spot at the Knicks thin wing position, theoretically using Landry Shamet in the reserve role.

The Sims were one of the longest-introduced Knicks after being drafted late in the second round of 2021. He began intermittently with injuries to the towns of Mitchell Robinson, Isaiah Hartenstein and Karl Anthony.

However, his role was sporadic in an offensive struggle.

He went to DNP from his first backup centre, and even valuable Achihuwa and rookie Ariel Fukurti were delayed in recent games.

The former Slam Dunk contestant, Sims averaged 2.4 points and 3.9 rebounds in 72% shooting in 177 games for the Knicks.

Sources said he is looking forward to a fresh start.

The trade also recovered New York cash considerations.

The rights to the random draft have also been exchanged. This has become a hallmark of the Knicks trade these days, meaning nothing as players usually don't reach the NBA.

The Knicks have given up on Matthias Wrestle's rights because of Hugo Besson's rights, league sources said.

Besson, a 23-year-old security guard from France, was drafted by the NBA in 2022 with No. 58.
