A knife-wielding man with a long rap sheet smashed the window of a police car and then punched two NYPD officers in the Bronx on Tuesday, police officials said.
Patrick Young, 34, was seen carrying a large knife as two officers mounted him outside the Brothers Police and Security store on Webster Avenue in Bedford Park around 5 p.m. He is said to have run towards the cruiser.
Young dropped the knife and became enraged, punching the driver’s side window multiple times, breaking it, police said.
Sources said the officers got out of their cruiser and confronted Young, but the man tried to cuff them, causing them both to sock.
Police eventually pulled out a Taser and ordered Young to the ground, which resulted in his arrest, the source added.

Young, who has more than 20 prior arrests, was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital for psychiatric evaluation and suffered cuts to his hands.
Young, a Bronx resident, was charged with assault and criminal mischief.
One of the most recent arrests was for threatening with a weapon, police officials said.
Meanwhile, the two officers were treated for bruises and abrasions at North Central Hospital, officials said.
