Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods Depart WWE

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, known for their tag team as the New Day, have reportedly parted ways with WWE as of Saturday. This is part of a broader trend of recent releases within the company.

The New Day, which also included Big E, became hugely popular among fans. Despite Big E’s serious injury, Kingston and Woods continued to showcase their impressive teamwork inside the ring. Over their time together, they captured the tag team championship four times, even holding the titles eight times with Big E.

Both Fightful Select and Body Slam have confirmed the departure of Kingston and Woods, and now they can be found in the alumni section of the WWE website.

Kingston has had significant success as a singles competitor, famously winning the WWE Championship by defeating Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35 during what fans called the “Kofimania” era. The support he garnered was remarkable, and he’s also a four-time Intercontinental Champion and a three-time U.S. Champion.

Xavier Woods entered WWE in 2010 after previous stints with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). Notably, he won the King of the Ring tournament in 2021.

Together, Kingston and Woods are regarded as one of the finest tag teams in WWE history. They secured their last title at WrestleMania 41 but turned heel shortly after that. Unfortunately, they lost the tag titles in June, and Woods dealt with an injury later in the year. Before leaving, Kingston partnered with Grayson Waller temporarily.

Additionally, Tonga Roa and JC Mateo have also been reported to have left the company. Roa made his WWE debut in 2009 but initially departed in 2014. He returned in 2024, joining forces with Solo Chicoa and forming the MFT faction.

JC Mateo joined WWE in 2025, supporting Chicor within MFT. He had previously held tag team titles alongside Tama Tonga but lost them to Damian Priest and R-Truth in March.
