A suspect connected to the shooting that resulted in the death of New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was apprehended on Monday, according to police reports.
The individual, whose name has not yet been revealed, was arrested at an apartment complex in Buffalo, New York. Authorities haven’t disclosed the suspect’s specific involvement in the incident.
Charges are still pending. The NYPD released a photo of a person believed to be associated with the shooting shortly after Boyd was taken to the hospital.
The shooting took place outside a midtown Manhattan restaurant during the early hours of November 16. The assailant fled the scene, and the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
Boyd sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was hospitalized for several days before being discharged. It appears he now faces additional health complications stemming from his injuries.
He had joined the Jets this offseason after time with the Houston Texans. During training camp, he suffered an injury and has been on injured reserve since August. His earlier seasons were spent with the Minnesota Vikings.
Interestingly, Boyd surprised his teammates last week by attending a special teams meeting. He took a moment to chat with both players and coaches afterward, which I imagine was quite uplifting for everyone involved.
