Kristen Bell’s New Ad Campaign Delivers Humor and Insight
Citibank has introduced a fresh advertising campaign for the Strata Elite card, featuring Kristen Bell, well-known for her roles in Frozen and Veronica Mars. The campaign is titled “That’s the Point”.
The creative director of the campaign stated that teaming up with Bell brings the perfect combination of friendliness, motivation, and entertainment, which resonates well with today’s premium card users.
In the ads, Bell portrays a character who enjoys vacations with her “family” while unwinding at the Admiral’s Club, highlighting the benefits of using points. The humor is strikingly effective.
Bell quips, “I live for fancy dinners where I have no idea what I’m eating… just eat the points, babe.”
She expressed her excitement about the collaboration, saying, “I’m really obsessed with earning points. Partnering with Citi on the Strata Elite Card felt natural. The benefits you can actually use, whether for travel, dining, or family trips, make each purchase feel smarter. Plus, having my first metal card feels incredibly chic. I can’t wait for the adventures it brings.”
Interestingly, Bell hasn’t always been a fan of Citibank and American Airlines. She used to rave about JetBlue’s food, and a decade ago, she helped launch the Amex Everyday Card while it was deemed a good fit for her as a mother.
The Strata Elite card comes with a $595 annual fee, offering a substantial introductory bonus of 100,000 points after spending $6,000 in the first three months. Those points can transfer to various airline and hotel programs, including American AAdvantage, and the card earns miles faster than American Airlines’ own card.
- Annual benefits include a $300 hotel credit for bookings of two nights or more through City Travel.
- A $200 splurge credit can be used on an American Airlines trip, along with $100 in Blacklane Credit, totaling potential credits of $1,200 in the first year.
- Other perks involve Priority Pass access for two guests, trip cancellation and interruption coverage, along with four annual passes to American Airlines Admirals Club.
If you consider that 100,000 points are valued around $1,500, plus the additional credits, the first year of membership amounts to $2,700, excluding further perks like lounge access.
However, for optimal use of the hotel credit, it may be wise to avoid conflicting with elite benefits if booked through a travel portal.
