Kristin Cavallari establishes a six-month guideline after mistaking love for infatuation

Kristin Cavallari recently shared insights from her past relationships and the important boundary she’s set for herself during a podcast episode. Addressing fan queries, she reflected on the distinction between infatuation and love, admitting she’s experienced confusion in her feelings. “I think infatuation lasts around three to six months,” she noted, explaining that she has a personal rule against declaring love, making long-term plans, or introducing potential partners to her kids for at least six months. This approach stems from her tendency to get overly excited when she feels attracted to someone.

Cavallari expressed that, in the past, she was often “completely consumed” by her infatuations and sometimes told people “I love you” prematurely out of confusion. Looking back, she realizes that she has genuinely felt in love with only a few individuals in her life, including her ex-husband, Jay Cutler, and a couple of significant boyfriends from her youth.

She articulated her belief that friendship and romantic love are distinct, emphasizing that for her, the element of attraction is crucial. Cavallari indicated that time is a determining factor in whether initial infatuations grow into deeper feelings, recalling that everyone she eventually fell for was also interested in her at the start.

After her marriage to Cutler ended in late 2020, she began dating TikTok creator Mark Estes. However, their relationship sparked controversy online due to their age difference. In a playful response to critics, she used TikTok to address the situation, showcasing her confidence in the partnership. Unfortunately, their romance ended after about seven months, as she later revealed in her podcast that she felt it wasn’t the right fit for the long term.

Reflecting on the split, Cavallari shared her perspective on youth and experience, suggesting that it’s vital for Estes to have the space to grow and discover himself during these formative years.
