Kroger, Walt Disney Explore Joining Forces in Retail Streaming

Kroger and Walt Disney are reportedly considering partnering on a retail streaming deal that would include bringing Disney+ to the food retailer’s grocery delivery program.

The companies are in talks to offer a streaming service called Kroger Boost as a free perk, according to people familiar with the matter. report From Bloomberg News.

If the deal goes through, Kroger Boost members could reportedly gain access to the streaming service as early as this year.

Kroger and Walt Disney aren’t the only companies that seem to be trying to figure out ways to drive revenue growth and create loyalty among customers.

In 2022, Walmart is adding new streaming benefits to Walmart+ members by offering Paramount+ Essentials subscriptions at no additional charge. In 2023, retail company Maple Bear, which does business as Instacart, began offering Comcast’s Peacock streaming service to paying subscribers.

Remarkably, Disney’s woke streaming service is bleeding money at an alarming rate, even as CEO Bob Iger attempts to rein in the company’s runaway spending habits. Yet, it is losing more than $1 billion every quarter at a time.

Disney’s recent negotiations with Kroger therefore appear to be an attempt by the company to shore up its struggling platform.

As Breitbart News’ John Nolte recently reported, Disney told shareholders last month that the company “generated a 2.9x return on the Lucasfilm acquisition,” a statement that is patently false. Forbes magazine reports.
