Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn Celebrate 43 Years Together

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn have shared a remarkable 43 years as a couple.

In a recent conversation featured in the Wall Street Journal, the 75-year-old actor reflected on how they first crossed paths on the set of “The One and Only Genuine Original Family Band” back in 1967. He was just 15, and, if I recall correctly, Goldie was a 21-year-old dancer.

He shared, “We reconnected in 1983 while working on the film Swing Shift.” By then, both had experienced divorces. Goldie had two young kids, Oliver and Kate, while Kurt had a son named Boston. “We clicked and thought, ‘Let’s have fun until we get divorced.’ Here we are, 43 years later.”

Even though they’ve never tied the knot, they blended their families and created a life together, welcoming their son Wyatt in July 1986.

Russell mentioned that they now split their time between homes in L.A., Palm Desert, Old Snowmass, Colorado, and New York—he particularly enjoys their residence in Old Snowmass.

He described it as a large, beautiful log cabin lodge on a ranch they moved to just over 40 years ago. “Goldie and I have always loved log homes. It started in Maine, and I’ve never lost that passion,” he noted.

Goldie elaborated on her choice not to marry in a 2007 interview, stating they were “doing perfectly fine without it.”

Kurt agreed, feeling committed without needing a formal marriage. He mentioned that as long as their relationship is filled with honesty, care, and love, things are good between them.

Both of them are financially independent and have raised wonderful children. Kurt said, “I enjoy waking up and seeing Goldie next to me knowing I have that choice. There really isn’t a reason to get married.”

Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson were quite young when Russell became part of their lives. They have both expressed their affection for him as a father figure, even calling him “Pa.”

On a podcast episode in November 2024, Oliver reflected on how Kurt played a pivotal role in his life, stating, “I’m the person I am today because of him.”

Oliver recalled a moment when Kurt suggested adopting him and Kate, but they declined, possibly not fully understanding what it entailed at the time. They felt like they had enough love in their lives already.

“While lacking biological ties can be complicated, Kurt offered plenty of love,” Kate said, asserting, “He is my father. I refer to him as Pa.” Yet she acknowledged that at times, there were aspects that felt a bit different.

Oliver added that his relationship with his biological father, Bill Hudson, improved over many years. “It took a long, long time,” he noted.
