The Knicks can now remove one more potential piece from their list.
Point guard Kyle Lowry has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the 76ers, according to multiple reports.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Lowry’s agent and Philadelphia general manager Daryl Morey had “intensified discussions” over the past week as the guard was considering “several” other teams.
The Knicks, who already have a talented roster coming out of Villanova, missed out on the 38-year-old Philadelphia native.
Stephen Bondy of the Washington Post named Lowry as one of the Knicks’ potential targets for bolstering their roster in free agency.
After starting the season with the Heat, Lowry averaged 8.0 points, 4.6 assists and 28.4 minutes in 23 games last year in his first season with the 76ers.
He averaged 7.0 points, 4.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds in the first-round playoff series against the Knicks, but the 76ers lost in six games.
