Sofia Umanski Discusses Hair Loss Due to Weight Loss Medication
Sofia Umanski, the daughter of reality star Kyle Richards, has been facing what she describes as a “dramatic hair loss situation.” She believes this may stem from weight loss after using a popular medication.
At 25, Sofia shared that she’s been taking Mounjaro for about four months. This medication, which is FDA-approved for managing type 2 diabetes, has also been noted for its weight loss benefits.
Recently, she and her sister observed a significant change in their hair over the past few weeks. In a Tiktok video, Sofia mentioned, “I’ve always had a lot of hair, so experiencing hair loss is, well… surprising.” She initially shared her thoughts, capturing moments of her hair falling out throughout the day, including during showers.
Sofia recounted, “It’s gotten to the point where, when I run my fingers through my hair, I’m left with a handful.” It’s concerning, to say the least.
While she doesn’t attribute her hair loss directly to the medication, she suggests it may result from rapid weight loss. “I think it’s related to the quick weight loss and perhaps not getting enough vitamins and protein,” she said, reflecting on her experience.
Initially, she was mindful of her diet, but over time, it seems she might have neglected some nutritional aspects. “I started out focusing on eating enough, but, um, I didn’t really prioritize the right nutrients,” she noted.
In light of these challenges, Sofia plans to shift her focus toward better nutrition to help with her hair loss. She’s incorporating more protein, vitamins, and even collagen supplements into her regimen. “I think that’s important now,” she explained.
Despite her concerns, she wrapped up her video with positive remarks about her weight loss journey. “If anyone wants to know about my experience with Mounjaro, I’m open to chatting about it. I really think it’s been beneficial,” she added.
