Kylian Mbappé Hospitalized, Misses Club World Cup Opener

Kylian Mbappé, the prominent football star, was unable to participate in Real Madrid’s opening match of the Club World Cup on Wednesday, and the club has since explained the situation.

On Thursday, Real Madrid disclosed that Mbappé was hospitalized due to acute gastroenteritis. They mentioned that he is undergoing a “sequence of tests” and is receiving appropriate treatment following the results.

Acute gastroenteritis, while often compared to gastric flu, has its own set of features.

Mbappé, 26, started feeling unwell on Monday and consequently missed practice on Tuesday.

The club did not specify whether he would be available for Wednesday’s match, with manager Xavi Alonso stating that they would “wait until the very end” to make a decision about his status, as reported by Athletic.

After Real Madrid finished with a draw against Al Hilal, Alonso revealed that Mbappé’s illness was more severe than initially believed.

With the circumstances surrounding Mbappé’s return now unclear, Real Madrid’s next challenge is against Pachuca on Sunday in the Club World Cup.

In his debut season with Real Madrid, Mbappé scored an impressive 43 goals in 56 appearances.

Looking ahead, Mbappé and the French national team will aim for redemption in the upcoming FIFA World Cup after their loss to Argentina in the 2022 final.
