Sam Lagana, the stadium announcer for the Los Angeles Rams, fought to save his Pacific Palisades home from the heat wave last week. I believe the firefighters did the best they could under the circumstances.
Thousands of homes were destroyed in the Palisades and Eaton fires near Pasadena. But no fire has shocked observers as much as the Palisades fire, both in terms of speed and scale.
The fire broke out on Tuesday, January 7, and the Palisades was ordered to be evacuated at noon. Lagana, like her neighbor and author, was able to use her media pass to re-enter the Palisades, which has been closed off to the public.
“As of Wednesday around noon, the street was still okay,” Lagana recalled.
But his street quickly went up in flames as firefighters struggled to extinguish other fires in the area, and a nearby public school also burned down that afternoon.
Lagana said she and some volunteers who work for the council stood outside and used a garden hose to protect the house.
His property was slightly damaged in the rear and part of the patio roof was burnt. However, the front of his house looks clean and is one of the few houses on the entire street that has survived.
Lagana said that although she is protecting her home, she is “very sad and concerned about those who have lost their homes and are forced to evacuate, like the families of many of my close friends.” spoke.
Lagana is glad she was able to keep her home, but misses the fact that it's a wasteland for now.
It may take years to develop it again. For now, he's focused on the Rams, who defeated the Minnesota Vikings last weekend and will face the Philadelphia Eagles next weekend.
“If Detroit loses and we win, [Washington] The commanders are here,” he said.
