New statistics reveal which cities in the U.S. and abroad are hotspots for Labor Day travel this year.
Booking.com has released information on some of the most anticipated vacation destinations as we close out the summer of 2024.
The Amsterdam, Netherlands-based travel company looked at search sessions by American travelers between June 22, 2024 and June 29, 2024 with check-in dates around the first weekend of the September long weekend.

According to the data, nine spots in the U.S. are trending, with two of them seeing significant increases year-over-year.
When it comes to international travel, Booking.com says five locations are currently the most popular, with search data for one of those locations growing 802% year-over-year.

In no particular order, nine U.S. cities are popular Labor Day weekend destinations for people looking to get away one last time this summer, according to sources.

Booking.com noted that search data for Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, increased 2% year over year, and search data for Chicago, Illinois, increased 25% year over year.

International travel data also revealed where people are looking for vacation destinations over the upcoming holiday weekend.

Booking.com said these international destinations were among the most popular destinations for travelers.
According to the company's search data, searches for Tokyo, Japan by travelers increased 27% year-over-year, while the most searched city was Barcelona, Spain, which saw searches increase 802% year-over-year.

Angela Cavis, director of public relations for Booking.com North America, told Fox News Digital that the company has also seen some surprising new entrants, particularly in Latin America, who weren't on the original list.

“Popular U.S. cities like Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Destin, Florida; and Chicago, Illinois, as well as international destinations like Tokyo, Paris and Barcelona, continue to see high interest from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, while there are some surprising new entrants, particularly in Latin America,” she said.

Other international potshots mentioned by Cavis were Guayaquil, Ecuador; Cali, Colombia; Lima, Peru and Buenos Aires, Argentina.
“These trends highlight American travelers' growing desire to look beyond traditional destinations and seek out rich cultural experiences that offer authentic connections,” she said.
