Lake County Road Named After Charlie Kirk

Lake County, Florida, has officially decided to name a road in honor of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA.

Anthony Sabatini, a former state representative, made the announcement recently. He expressed his excitement, stating, “Great news – my resolution to name the road in honor of the great Charlie Kirk has passed 5-0! Lake County is now the number one local government in the country with a road named after the great @Charliekirk11.”

Sabatini extended his gratitude to the Lake County Commission and residents who supported the initiative. “We hope that counties and cities across the nation will follow our lead! For Charlie,” he added.

Andrew Kolvet, a spokesman and executive producer at Turning Point USA, also shared his thoughts on the news. “It’s amazing. I hope it’s the first of many in Lake County, Florida. I want to see Charlie Kirk’s highways all over the United States as a lasting reminder of the sacrifices of this country,” he said.

Even though the name change received a unanimous vote, it sparked some heated discussions. Reports indicated that the enthusiasm surrounding the honor led to a lively public debate.

At one point, a man argued that such honors should go to those like fallen Deputy Bradley Link, prompting a strong reaction from Sabatini. He shot back, “How daring! How do you dare use that name for your petty grievances! You’re a bad person!” This only escalated the already charged atmosphere.

However, not everyone opposed the change, as some speakers supported it. In a related move, a portion of Cypress Avenue in Melbourne, Florida, will also be renamed after Charlie Kirk.

Reportedly, this section runs alongside a business called Lamb & Company, whose owners had been criticized for celebrating the death of Kirk following a tragic incident. Kairi Lam, the owner, initially made a controversial post but later apologized, calling it a significant error.

Mayor Paul Alfrey of Melbourne emphasized that renaming the street isn’t an act of retaliation but rather an effort to represent the entire community. “I changed the airport road to Martin Luther King Boulevard and received significant backlash,” he added.
