Laken Riley’s mother blasts Biden for not knowing daughters name during SOTU

The mother of murdered nursing student Laken Hope Riley called President Joe Biden “pathetic” during this week’s State of the Union address for not knowing her daughter’s name.

Biden suffered a gaffe during Thursday’s speech when he mispronounced Laken Riley’s name as “Lincoln Riley.”

The 81-year-old president came under pressure from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who yelled at Biden to “say your name!”

Biden responded, “I know how to say her name.”

“Lincoln — Lincoln Riley, an innocent young woman killed by an illegal alien,” Biden mistakenly said.

Alison Phillips, the mother of a 22-year-old boy killed in a wooded area on the University of Georgia campus, blamed Biden for the failure.

“Biden doesn’t even know my child’s name,” Phillips wrote on Facebook. [sic] Pathetic! “

The Biden administration waited nearly a week to respond to Riley’s killing, which Republicans condemned as “sad” and “pathetic” in a short press release from the White House.

Days after her death, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp slammed Biden’s immigration policies in response to Riley’s murder.

A grieving mother criticized President Biden on Friday in response to a Facebook post celebrating the passage of the Laken-Riley Act introduced by Rep. Mike Collins (R-Ga.).

The House of Representatives on Thursday passed a bill honoring slain college students 251-170, with all Republicans present and 37 Democrats voting “yes.”

The bill would require ICE to detain illegal aliens who commit robbery or theft.

The suspect accused of brutally killing Riley is Jose Antonio Ibarra, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela.

More than six months before Riley’s murder, Ybarra was reportedly arrested in New York City and charged with injury to a child under 17 and a motor vehicle license violation.

In October 2023, Ybarra was arrested for shoplifting but was not turned over to ICE agents by police in Athens, Georgia. Because the city had declared itself a sanctuary city, Ybarra was released instead of being turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

Mr. Ybarra failed to appear in court regarding the change, so a warrant was issued for his arrest.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced that a 26-year-old Venezuelan national was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection after illegally entering the United States near El Paso, Texas, on September 8, 2022.

Earlier this week, Phillips made her first public comment about her daughter’s tragic murder.

“My family has faced the most devastating and unimaginable loss anyone has ever had to endure,” the distraught mother said.

Phillips added: “I would like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for being with me and my family during this heartbreaking time.”
