Laken Riley died at the hands of a ferocious monster. The open borders industrial complex, including Joe Biden and the left's sanctuary city policies, has put her rights into his hands. These policies include those of the reckless “Soros-style” Athens district attorney who took office vowing never to seek the death penalty.
Jose Ibarra entered the United States illegally. He received a plane ticket with taxpayer funds. He was given housing and protection from law enforcement upon arrival. But when he stalks and murders an innocent nursing student on the campus of the University of Georgia, rather than eradicate this insane, depraved maniac from the earth, the now-defeated District Attorney of Athens, Georgia, pays his taxes. allowed someone to fund his room and lodging. for the rest of his life.
The monster who killed Laken Riley will spend the rest of his life in a Georgia prison. He was sentenced twice to life in prison without parole, and later to life in prison. Barring something unforeseen, undocumented Venezuelan immigrant Jose Ibarra will never breathe free air again. But the question remains: why is he not put to death? Why is Prosecutor Gonzalez so callous and indifferent to Laken Riley's memory and unwilling to seek the ultimate punishment for her in one of the most heartbreaking murders in Georgia history?

First, Ibarra committed a heinous act while committing the capital crime of “kidnapping with bodily injury.'' In fact, he was convicted of this crime in Count 6 of the Indictment.
Second, this crime was committed while Ybarra was committing the crime of aggravated assault for which he was convicted on count 8 of the indictment.
Third, the murder of Laken Riley was undoubtedly “outrageous or unreasonably despicable, horrific, or inhumane.” Ibarra went looking for someone to rape. He found Laken Riley, and as she struggled with her attacker for nearly 20 minutes, he smashed her head in with a stone and dumped her body like common trash.

Despite these circumstances, District Attorney Gonzalez chose not to seek the death penalty in this case. In fact, she vowed never to seek the death penalty in any case, no matter how egregious the details of the crime. On his first day in office four years ago, Gonzalez sent a memo saying he would not seek the death penalty under any circumstances, stripping juries of the right to decide on the death penalty in the most heinous cases. This unilateral decision was not intended by Georgia lawmakers and is contrary to the will of the people.

This was no ordinary robbery or drug deal gone wrong. This crime was truly disgusting, despicable, abhorrent, and unimaginably sad. This ruthless killer went looking for someone to rape, but she refused to become his victim. Laken Riley struggled with prosecutors for nearly 20 minutes, prosecutors said in their opening statement. She fought for her life, she fought for her dignity. Ibarra then hit her over the head with a rock, strangled her until a blood vessel burst in her eye, tried to remove her clothes, and left her lifeless body covered in rubble. If there's anyone worth giving up his life for, it's Jose Ibarra.
The message to all “sanctuary cities” and all those seeking to come to America should be heard loud and clear. If you come here illegally and violently kill one of our daughters, you will pay with your life. This animal doesn't deserve 3 warm water baths and a cot. Jose Ibarra is irredeemably morally corrupt. He cannot be rehabilitated. Georgia deserves retribution, and Laken Riley deserves more justice than District Attorney Gonzalez has granted.
