Lakers and Anthony Davis might come together again in a significant trade.

The recent trade of Anthony Davis from the Lakers to the Mavericks, where he joined superstar Luka Doncic, has certainly stirred the pot in the NBA.

This move illustrated the Lakers’ commitment to laying the groundwork for future stars as they pivot toward the next chapter of their franchise.

Fast forward over a year, and chatter about a potential reunion between the Lakers and Davis is heating up again. They clearly need a top-tier big man, and a 33-year-old Davis checks all the boxes.

Acquiring Davis would come at a steep price for the Lakers, but NBA reporter Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson speculated on a three-team mega deal that could see the 10-time All-Star return to Los Angeles.

Lakers could acquire Anthony Davis in wild three-team mega-deal

Robinson’s trade scenario involves the Lakers, Jazz, and Wizards. In this proposed deal, the Lakers would gain Davis, along with promising Utah player Ace Bailey, and two second-round draft picks from both the Jazz and Wizards.

On the flip side, Washington would receive the No. 2 overall pick from this year’s draft, along with Lauri Markkanen, Jared Vanderbilt, Dalton Knecht, and a couple of future unprotected first-round picks from the Lakers.

As for the Jazz, they would get the top pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, alongside Trae Young, Jake LaRabia, and a few other picks and assets from the Lakers.

This trade would need to be completed before the NBA Draft on Tuesday. It could heavily position the Lakers as serious contenders for another championship.

Interestingly, there have been whispers about Davis’ social media activity, particularly his liking posts related to his initial trade to the Lakers back in 2019.

Of course, there are hurdles to overcome. For one, it seems unlikely that the Jazz would part with Bailey; their CEO Danny Ainge may not be too eager to aid the Lakers. Losing a promising young talent looks even less appealing for Utah.

Additionally, Davis’s trade value might actually grow as the trade deadline approaches, possibly as the Wizards look to maximize what they can get.

Davis teaming up again with Doncic in Los Angeles? It almost feels too good to be true. Yet, with the Lakers’ impressive history of building star-studded rosters, if this trade does materialize, it could set them up for a solid shot at their first championship since 2020.
