Lamar Jackson’s trip to Buffalo didn’t go as planned.
The star quarterback faced some heated moments with Bills fans, and his team suffered a tough 41-40 loss on Sunday night.
Things seemed to brighten for the Ravens when DeAndre Hopkins made an incredible one-handed touchdown catch, putting Baltimore ahead 34-19 late in the third quarter. Fans, including Jackson, celebrated energetically in the stands.
However, Jackson reacted to the fans in a way that raised eyebrows.
“He slapped me and he was talking, so I kind of forgot where I was,” Jackson reflected after the thrilling game. “You must maintain composure in those moments. There’s security to address situations like that, but I just let my emotions lead. Hopefully, it won’t happen again.”
Despite the incident, Jackson mentioned he’s not planning to hold back in celebrations moving forward.
“I’ve never experienced a fan doing that,” he remarked. “So when I score, I’ll just keep celebrating. It’s just part of the game.”
The incident appeared minor in the grand scheme for the Ravens, who aim to regroup after a tough preseason playoff exit.
Meanwhile, Josh Allen orchestrated a remarkable comeback for the Bills, racking up two touchdowns and a field goal in the last four minutes to close a 15-point gap.
A pivotal fumble by Derrick Henry was instrumental in helping the Bills, as they brought the score to 40-32.
“You have to finish the game,” Jackson emphasized to reporters. “It’s not over until all the zeros are on the clock, and I learned that lesson tonight.”
In total, Jackson threw for 209 yards, rushed for 70, and achieved three touchdowns.
The Ravens are set to host the Browns in Week Two.
