Lamar Jackson supports Mark Andrews following key playoff fumble and drop

Ravens’ Mark Andrews Faces Criticism After Playoff Loss

The Baltimore Ravens provided an opportunity in their AFC title game, a game where every play truly mattered, particularly in the playoffs. Unfortunately, tight end Mark Andrews experienced some critical moments during the team’s divisional round defeat to the Buffalo Bills.

In that game, a fumble from Andrews in the fourth quarter set up a crucial field goal for the Bills, and a missed pass during a two-point conversion attempt on the Ravens’ final drive contributed to the outcome. The Bills emerged victorious with a score of 27-25.

Despite recording five catches for 61 yards, Andrews became the focal point of scrutiny after those pivotal errors. He expressed feeling “absolutely broken” over the drop and even received online death threats following the game.

As the Ravens returned to minicamp, Lamar Jackson spoke up to defend his teammate. “I’ve seen my guy talk, and he did so much for us. I don’t really like how people treated him,” Jackson said, emphasizing Andrews’ contributions and the team’s collective loss. He continued, “Mark is still Mark. He’s done a lot for us, and sometimes things just happen.” Jackson also reflected on the game, sharing his wish that things had gone differently.

Following the game, Andrews appeared in shock but received support from teammates. The disappointment he felt was profound. Reflecting on the situation, he stated, “This adversity makes me stronger and promises to fuel us as I move forward. I now take my role, bounce back, and contribute to it.” He ended his remarks with “#Godbless.”

Andrews, who was the third pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, has played seven seasons for the Ravens. In his latest campaign, he achieved a career-high with 11 touchdowns on 55 receptions for 673 yards.
