Kobe Bryant’s Dream Surfaces in Lamar Odom’s Podcast Reflection

Lamar Odom, former NBA player and teammate of Kobe Bryant, recently opened up on the Double3 Coverage Podcast about a striking dream he had regarding Bryant. In the dream, they were competing in a three-point shooting contest, hosted by actor Billy Crystal. Odom shared a moment during the competition when Bryant paused, looked at him, and said, “Hello, life after death isn’t what people invented,” just before he woke up.

Although it was just a dream, Odom found himself pondering its significance. He speculated that perhaps his former teammates were trying to convey something meaningful. “Maybe it’s him. I think that means a lot of things. Perhaps he’s journeying somewhere, I’m not really sure what it means, but I just try to embrace my life right now,” he said thoughtfully.

Odom’s reflections on life and death stem from his own near-fatal overdose incident in 2015, which he recounted in the Netflix documentary “The Death and Life of Lamar Odom.” At one point, he faced overwhelming health crises, including 12 strokes and six heart attacks. During the podcast, he expressed that while he never knew where he was headed after those experiences, it led him to recognize life’s fleeting nature. “Nobody is promised tomorrow,” he noted, emphasizing the lessons he learned from both his life and the tragedies of his friends.

Tragically, Bryant and eight others, including his daughter Gianna, were killed in a helicopter crash in January 2020. Odom and Bryant had a successful partnership on the Lakers from 2004 to 2011, winning two championships in the process. Odom also earned the Sixth Man of the Year award during the 2010-2011 season, leaving a lasting legacy in the league.

As Odom continues to navigate life post-NBA, his memories of Bryant serve as both a reflection and a reminder of the importance of living in the moment.
