They say you never forget your first time, but Lando Norris celebrated his first F1 victory in a fitting way at Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix.
Norris, who has finished on the podium a record 15 times in F1 without a win, can finally call himself a champion after holding off Max Verstappen for the win by seven seconds.
Norris attempted a stage dive on his team in celebration, but was repeatedly thrown into the air by his team.

After winning the Miami Grand Prix, Norris exclaimed on the radio, “Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, I love you guys.” According to Sky News.
“Thank you very much. We did it, Will. [Joseph, Norris’s race engineer]. Hooray.
“I guess that’s how it is. At last. Oh, I’m so happy. I found out when I came this morning. I said today is a day full of opportunities. I’ve succeeded, dear. It was a success, thank you very much.
“Thank you, mom, thank you, dad. This is a gift for grandma, thank you so much.”
In a display of sportsmanship, Max Verstappen, who was in the lead for part of the race, praised Norris’ victory from the cockpit of his car.
Norris also received congratulations from former president and Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump.
The two were also photographed talking after the race, but it is unclear what they were saying.
The 45th president was given a tour of McLaren’s garage before the race and was also seen speaking to team CEO Zak Brown.
“While McLaren is a non-political organization, we recognize and respect the office of the President of the United States, so when asked to visit our garage on race day, we spoke with the FIA President, Liberty Media and I accepted this along with F1’s CEOs. McLaren said in a statement to the Daily Mail.
