Engagement Announcement for NBA Champion Landry Shamet
Landry Shamet, the NBA champion and shooting guard for the Knicks, is enjoying an incredible summer.
On Tuesday, he and his girlfriend, Cameron Aimonetti, who works as a real estate agent, shared their engagement news through two joint posts on Instagram.
Shamet popped the question during a boat trip on Lake Como in Italy.
The posts celebrating their engagement included images of them enjoying wine, swimming, and having fun aboard a merry-go-round. One picture captured Shamet steering the boat, looking back at Aimonetti while pointing to her new ring.
This announcement puts to rest any speculation that followed reports of their time in Italy, where a photo revealed a sparkling diamond ring on Aimonetti’s left hand.
The couple has been a pair since at least September 2024, having made appearances together, including at the ESPYs in July 2019.
In response to their announcement, several of Shamet’s teammates and their partners commented with congratulations, including Jordan Clarkson and Karl-Anthony Towns’ fiancée, Jordyn Woods.
Aimonetti expressed her admiration for Shamet, acknowledging his significant contribution to the Knicks’ first championship win since 1973.
She praised his determination in the journey, mentioning, “Champion…nothing (really nothing) was going to stop you from coming here and going all the way through this. The mental strength and discipline it took to get to this moment is hard to put into words…you’ve earned all of this. World Champion.”
Looking ahead, Shamet seems set to continue with the Knicks for a while. After clinching the championship, he signed a four-year contract worth $24 million, ensuring that one of their top shooters remains to help defend their title.
His standout performance came during the Eastern Conference finals against the Cavaliers, where he remarkably made 11 out of 12 three-pointers, helping lead the team to a sweep.
Perhaps most memorably, his game-tying three-pointer in Game 1 was a highlight during the postseason.
