Ole Miss Rebels Triumph Over Oklahoma Sooners

The No. 8 Ole Miss Rebels faced quite a challenge as they went to Norman to compete against the No. 13 Oklahoma Sooners.

At one point, Ole Miss was down by 12 points in the third quarter. However, they managed to shut out the Sooners in the final quarter, ultimately winning 34-26 on the road.

Post-game, ESPN attempted to grab an interview with Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin right on the field, but he seemed preoccupied with other matters.

Kiffin’s remarks to Oklahoma State lineman David Stone were picked up by a hot microphone. “It’s a little quieter than before,” he noted.

Surprised, Molly McGrath asked if Kiffin was giving her his final thoughts. Kiffin replied, “This guy yelled at me during the game, ‘They’re five times better, and we can’t score on them.'” Stone seemed to be trying to smooth things over, but Kiffin wasn’t having it.

The Rebels took a 25-13 lead late in the third quarter. Then, the Sooners made a comeback, highlighted by Xavier Robinson’s 65-yard touchdown run, followed by another score that put them ahead 26-25.

However, Ole Miss responded with an 11-play drive culminating in an 8-yard touchdown pass from Trinidad Chambliss to Trayce Brookler.

With just over seven minutes remaining, the Sooners aimed to regain control, but a fumbled punt return by Isaiah Sategna III gave the Rebels a much-needed field goal, extending their lead to eight points with 4:09 left on the clock.

Despite their efforts, the Sooners failed to convert on a 4-and-5 situation from the Ole Miss 30-yard line. They ultimately had to punt, leaving them unable to mount a miraculous final drive.

After this win, Ole Miss improved to 7-1 (4-1), while Oklahoma fell to 6-2 (2-2). Chambliss had a solid performance, throwing for 315 yards and adding 53 rushing yards.
